Cape Coral is a friendly boaters paradise
with more than 400 miles of canals, more than Venice in Italy,
reaching into the community from the Caloosahatchee river and
the Gulf of Mexico. It truly is a boaters paradise, with the
Lee island
coast regarded as one of the foremost boating grounds in the
USA. Cape Coral is within easy reach of the many offshore islands
such
as Sanibel and Captiva, and the many waterfront restaurants
in the area. www.leeislandcoast.com
There is every water borne sport and recreation you could wish
for, even flights in a seaplane from the Caloosahatchee river
to give you a birds eye view of the city and surrounding islands.
Cape Coral also offers some of the best golf
courses in an area renowned for its golf, from top rated championship
courses to the more relaxed ‘executive’ courses with challenges
for every skill level. There are also good facilities for tennis
players in the city.
Cape Coral also provides facilities for family
fun, with a 12 acre water park, a family sports amusement centre,
and a children’s
science centre. Also within easy reach is the Edison museum which
is just over the river in the beautiful McGregor Boulevard lined
with 1800 palm trees.
The area provides a diverse range of things
to occupy your time, with restaurants, shopping malls, and
mile upon
mile of beaches,
some deserted, and some lively – take your pick. Sanibel
and Captiva Islands are world famous for the shells to be found
on the beaches, and Lovers Key, which also has a good shelling
beach, is one of a number of nature reserves in the area. The
tropical wildlife is special, with manatees, alligators, pelicans,
an abundance of bird life and dolphin sightings in the wild
are a common occurrence.
And to round off the day just turn to the
West - the sunsets are breathtaking.
